WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (41-42) and the Traverse City Beach Bums (37-46) met at CONSOL Energy Park for a doubleheader as part of a three game set. Traverse City triumphed in game one with a score of 6-5 after the 10-inning competition, while Washington vectored in game two with a score of 9-7.

RHP Luke Wilkins (3-6) started on the mound for the Wild Things; in his 5.0 innings on the mound, Wilkins allowed 8 hits and shutdown 10 Beach Bums. LHP Brian O’Keefe (2-2) recorded the loss for Washington. RHP James Ball (3-3) was the winning pitcher for Traverse City.

Washington tallied the scoreboard first when Ricky Rodriguez homered in the bottom of the first. Traverse City took the lead in the third when Will Kengor and Steven Patterson recorded RBIs. Washington and Traverse City then traded two-run innings in the bottom of the fifth and top of the sixth; Grant Fink shot a two-run double for Washington and Beach Bums Jeff DeBlieux and Marcos Derkes recorded RBIs. Chris Grayson then homered in the bottom half of the sixth, tying the game. The team exchanged scoreless innings until the ninth, where each team tallied one. However, the Beach Bums scored the last run in the tenth – winning the outing.

RHP Ashton Perritt (1-0) earned the win on the mound for Washington, while RHP Kolin Stanley (3-1) recorded the save. Beach Bum RHP Jacob Lanning (4-6) was the losing pitcher on the outing.

Both teams scored one unearned run in the first. Washington had two more cross the plate in the second from a Kyle Pollock solo home run and an unearned run from a fielder’s choice Chris Grayson single. The Beach Bums tallied four unearned runs in the third, but Washington answered with six runs of their own. The Beach Bums earned solo runs in the fourth and sixth, but fell short to Washington’s offensive explosion.
