What years did you play with the Washington Wild Things?

I just played one year for the Wild Things - 2005

What have you been doing since your time in the Frontier League?

Well 2005 was my last year playing so I retired that winter from baseball professionally. I got married that October, and entered the world of politics. I was legislative assistant/Chief-of-Staff to State Representative Thomas C. Petrone from 2005-2008. In 2008, I entered the race for State Representative of the 27th legislative district, but was unsuccessful in winning that three-way race. I also started the Ryan Douglass Field of Dreams Baseball Clinics, which are free clinics I host every year in April around the Pittsburgh area for children. I want to give back and get children excited for their upcoming seasons. Since 2008, I’ve been working at KDL, a family owned 3PL based in Carnegie, as a supply chain consultant. I really love my job assisting manufacturers/distributors in lowering their costs in transportation. I also have 3 young boys now – Brayden (8), Dean (6) & Camden (4).

What is your favorite memory as a Wild Thing?

That’s a tough question because of all the memories there. I remember pitching a complete game shutout wearing the stars/stripes jersey for Fourth of July, and giving Massarelli a big hug on the field.

What is your favorite memory playing baseball overall?

I honestly can’t say I have a single favorite memory playing baseball because my entire career was a blessing. I was surrounded by wonderful family, friends and coaches who were there to support me through that time.

Why do you encourage people to attend Frontier League games?

I encourage people to attend Frontier League games because they are an absolute BLAST. Plus, you get to see kids strive to fulfill their dreams of possibly getting to the major leagues.

Why do you love the Washington Wild Things?

I love the Washington Wild Things because from top to bottom it is a class organization that focuses on the fans, the players and their employees. I was honored to finish my career close to home playing for the Wild Things, and will never forget that time.
