Announced by the Frontier League, the Washington Wild Things have signed RHP Zach Strecker, INF Kyle Reese and OF Hector Roa. These signings bring Washington's roster one step closer to their full Spring Training squad.

Strecker joins Washington following a strong rookie campaign with the Minnesota Twins. The Louisville native make 17 appearances with the Twins, collected 6 saves and retiring 28 batters via strikeout in 33 innings. Standing 6'5, Strecker shined in four seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats, appearing in 81 games in the SEC. The Twins coveted Strecker following a senior season where he posted a 1.84 ERA, handling pressure situations for UK.

"Zach can handle the spotlight. He showed an ability to attack hitters in the SEC and he displayed an attitude to finish ballgames with the Twins. Smart pitchers know when to go for the strikeout and when to pitch to contact, and Zach fits the mold of what look for", GM Steven Zavacky noted.

Reese signs his first professional contract, joining an athletic Washington infield. During his college career at Nicholls State University, Reese was a .350 career hitter. In 93 games at the D1 level he drove in 60 runs and slashed 28 doubles. The Alabama native has his senior season cut short by a broken jaw, but he still managed to hit .313 and showing his leadership for the Colonels.

Zavacky discussed Reese's signing, "Some guys are just productive baseball players, whether they fit the mold for the Major Leagues or not. Kyle is a versatile defender in the infield and has continued to hit throughout his career. He is very eager to make his professional debut here in Washington."

From the Houston Astros, the Wild Things sign OF Hector Roa. The Washington DC native is entering his 6th season of professional baseball, spanning Rookie ball to Class A level. With nearly 1000 career professional at-bats, Roa has been a dynamic hitter posting 40% of base knocks going for extra bases. His 35 professional HR are the most on the current Washington roster.

"There is no shortage of power from Hector Roa! We believe his has the ability to be a threat playing a full 96 game schedule. Not too often do you find a 6 year pro with 30+ HR and 100+ RBI who is classified a rookie in our league. He comes from a great family, with a father who played 10+ seasons of professional baseball, so he embraces the grind.", Zavacky exclaimed.

The Wild Things home opener is slated for Friday, May 19th. Individual game tickets are now on sale for the 2017 season! Call the box office at 724-250-9555 to be part of the action or purchase tickets online at www.washingtonwildthings.com
