Baseball America Top Prospect to Washington

The Washington Wild Things have agreed to terms with 6'3 LHP Hunter Williams. Following two seasons with the UNC Tar Heels, the Virginia native will begin his professional baseball career in the Frontier League.

Williams was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 32nd round of out high school but accepted a scholarship to play in the ACC for the University of North Carolina. He posts a career 7-3 record in 16 starts and 76 strikeouts in 78 innings. His 2.42 career ERA dazzled scouts and Hunter quickly found himself throwing in the prestigious Cape Cod league.

In the best collegiate summer league, Williams managed a 2.42 ERA with the Harwich Mariners and retired another 69 batters via punch out in 77 innings. For his efforts, Baseball America labeled Hunter as one of the Top Prospects in the Cape Cod league. Entering the 2017 season, Hunter was tabbed as #58 of the Top 100 College Draft Prospects by Baseball America.
