WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things [33-29] dropped both games of the doubleheader against the Normal CornBelters [31-31] after lacking to muster up much of an offense in either seven-inning game.

In game one, right-handed pitcher Trevor Foss (8-4) put on a solid performance, going all seven innings and only allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out four CornBelters. The complete game extends his franchise record to 12 career complete games, however, it does snap his five-game winning streak, as well, as Washington lost 1-0 in the opening game.

Despite only allowing two hits in the game, Foss walked the first two batters in the first inning, with the lead runner ending up on third base with two outs after getting first baseman Aaron Dudley to ground in to a double play. The lead runner, centerfielder Diego Cedeno, was brought home by a single by Nolan Meadows to give the CornBelters a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

The Wild Things only registered three hits in game one – designated hitter James Harris recorded two hits in the game for his fourth-career multi-hit game since signing with Washington in early July.

The starter for Normal, right-hander Edgar de La Rosa (2-3), walked four batters during his six innings of work, while striking out two Wild Things.

In game two, the CornBelters clobbered Washington pitching for 13 hits in just seven innings. Left-handed pitcher Brian O’Keefe (3-5) went three innings and allowed eight hits on seven runs while striking out just two CornBelters.

Normal belted three home runs in the game, off the bats of right fielder Nolan Meadows, catcher Brian Hakes and first baseman Aaron Dudley, to win 11-4 in game two.

Catcher John Fidanza for the Wild Things hit a three-run home run to left field in the fourth inning, for his first home run of the season, to celebrate his 25th birthday in style. The only other run for Washington came in the fifth inning when designated hitter Bralin Jackson tripled to bring home first baseman Kane Sweeney, and make the game 7-4 after five innings.

Normal would score four more runs during the later innings of the game to win 11-4, and bring themselves within four games of the second wild-card spot for the Frontier League playoffs.
