Wild Things Add Two Pitchers to Staff

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Today the Washington Wild Things announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan, the 2017 32nd-round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays who went unsigned, to a deal to pitch in the bullpen for the team. He will be active tonight. Also, Washington has signed RHP Ethan Gibbons and activated him, after claiming him on waivers Tuesday from Southern Illinois.

Condra-Bogan was with Georgia Southern in 2017 as a senior athletically in the grad program, after coming in from Wofford, where he played three seasons after redshirting his freshman year. In four seasons in NCAA DI baseball, Condra-Bogan pitched to a 13-9 record with a 5.18 earned run average in 184 innings. In total, he walked just 78 batters and struck out 171.

He had his best year in his only year at Georgia Southern, where he posted a 4.50 ERA in 56 innings over the course of 19 outings (six starts). He walked 18 and gave up 63 hits but just 28 earned runs. Condra-Bogan struck out just under a batter an inning (53).

The right-hander also played a season with the Florence RedWolves of the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate baseball league, in 2014. Condra-Bogan logged 29.2 innings and went 2-0 with a 1.21 earned run average. In 24 total appearances, he gave up 21 hits and only four runs, while he walked 12 and struck out 45.

It was also in the Coastal Plain League that Condra-Bogan played with current Wild Things’ first baseman Kane Sweeney.
